Understanding Knee Pain

Knee pain is a common health problem that can affect people of all ages. It may occur because of an injury, inflammation, or long-term conditions such as arthritis. Some people experience knee pain suddenly after a fall or sports activity, while others develop pain gradually over time due to wear and tear of the joint.

There are several causes of knee pain. Injuries such as ligament tears, meniscus damage, fractures, or tendon inflammation can lead to pain and swelling. Arthritis is another major cause, especially in older adults.

Osteoarthritis occurs when the cartilage in the knee joint wears down over time, while rheumatoid arthritis is caused by the immune system attacking the joint. Knee pain can also result from overuse conditions, such as runner’s knee or bursitis, which happen when the knee is repeatedly stressed.

The symptoms of knee pain may include swelling, stiffness, difficulty walking, clicking sounds, or weakness in the joint. Some people may find it hard to bend or straighten the knee properly.

Common Types of Knee Pain Users Report

Users who apply the Vortice Disc™ to the knee often describe pain falling into one or more of the following categories:

1. Anterior Knee Pain

Pain felt around or behind the kneecap. This is commonly associated with stair climbing, squatting, or prolonged sitting.

Users frequently describe this pain as:

  • Dull or aching

  • Pressure-like

  • Worse with movement initiation

2. Medial or Inner Knee Pain

Discomfort on the inside of the knee joint, often noticed during walking or standing.

This type of pain is often reported by users who:

  • Spend long hours on their feet

  • Experience joint stiffness

  • Have a history of altered gait or hip imbalance

3. Lateral or Outer Knee Pain

Pain along the outside of the knee, sometimes extending down the leg.

Users often associate this with:

  • Repetitive motion

  • Running or cycling

  • Tightness through the outer thigh or hip

4. Generalized Knee Stiffness or Swelling Sensation

Some users do not describe sharp pain at all, but rather:

  • A feeling of fullness or pressure

  • Morning stiffness

  • Reduced ease of movement

This type of discomfort is often linked to inflammation rather than acute injury.

A Natural Approach to Reducing Knee Pain

For many individuals, the goal is not just temporary relief, but to reduce knee pain naturally without relying solely on medication or invasive procedures.

The Vortice Disc™ offers a noninvasive option that works with the body rather than overriding it. Because it does not introduce chemicals, heat, or electrical stimulation, it appeals to those looking for a more natural way to support joint comfort.

Users exploring ways to reduce knee pain naturally often focus on movement, strengthening, recovery, and inflammation management. The Vortice Disc™ can be incorporated into that broader strategy as a supportive tool, helping the knees feel calmer and more responsive during daily activity.

Application Protocol For Knee Pain

Initial application of the Vortice Disc™ should be on both sides of the patella tendon between the  patella (knee cap) and the insertion of the patella tendon on the tibia.  These two points are control points for pain throughout the knee joint.

Use two 38mm Vortice Discs™

  • Place one disc on each side of the patellar tendon, which runs between the kneecap (patella) and the shinbone (tibia):

    • Medial side: Center one disc over the natural depression along the inner edge of the patellar tendon.

    • Lateral side: Center the second disc over the depression along the outer edge of the patellar tendon

Securing the Discs

  • Secure the discs using pre-cut hypoallergenic adhesive tape, such as FixiC® Oval or comparable products commonly used for tubeless insulin delivery systems.

  • These adhesives typically keep the discs in place for 2 to 5 days of continuous wear.

  • Keeping the original discs in place, additional discs may be placed over painful areas,

It is recommended to continue with your initial treatment for knee pain while utilizing the Vortice Disc™. Additional discs may be placed over areas of tenderness.

What Users Commonly Experience After Knee Placement

While experiences vary, users often report changes such as:

  • A gradual reduction in pain intensity

  • Increased ease of bending or straightening the knee

  • Less stiffness after periods of rest

  • Improved confidence with walking or movement

Some users notice changes quickly, while others report more subtle shifts over time. The experience is often described as the knee feeling “calmer” or less reactive.

It is important to note that responses differ depending on activity level, consistency of use, and underlying causes of discomfort.

A 70-Year-Old User’s Story of Relief

"Being 70 years of age, with ligament replacements/repairs in both of my knees and arthritis, I can not express the positive difference the Vortice Discs™ have made in my daily activities.

I am a true believer in the Vortice Discs ™and so thankful to have an orthopedist whom supports my doing so. I will continue to wear the Vortices Discs™- such a small price to pay for my incredible benefits!"

Knee Pain Is Often a System Issue, Not Just a Knee Issue

One of the most important things users discover is that knee pain does not always originate in the knee itself.

The knee often compensates for:

  • Hip instability

  • Weak or tight thigh muscles

  • Limited ankle mobility

  • Postural imbalance

Because of this, some users choose to place the Vortice Disc™ not only on the knee, but also in surrounding areas that feel involved in the discomfort pattern.

This broader perspective helps explain why knee pain can persist even when imaging appears normal.

Safety and Tolerance

The Vortice Disc™ is noninvasive and does not introduce heat, electricity, or chemicals into the body.

Users have not reported systemic side effects associated with knee placement. The only commonly noted issue is mild skin irritation, which is attributed to adhesive sensitivity, not the disc itself. This typically resolves once the adhesive is removed.

As with any wearable product, users are encouraged to monitor their skin and adjust placement or duration as needed.

Final Thoughts

Knee pain issues are rarely simple and if experienced, may be reflecting the body compensating and responding to stressors and injury over time.

Understanding common pain patterns, being intentional with placement, and paying attention to how your body responds are key parts of using the Vortice Disc™ effectively.
