Vortice Disc Placement Guide

Step 01
Find the area with the most pain or Inflammation:
Place the disc directly over the center of the target area.
Vortice Disc Sizes and Uses:
-
16 mm - For fingers and toes
-
38 mm - For foot, ankle, knee, hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, neck
-
72 mm - For back, abdomen, thigh, hips, chest
-
190mm - For back, or placed in bed while sleeping

Step 02
Place the Vortice Disc flat against your skin:
The orientation of the disc's patterns doesn't affect its function, and the disc can be placed with either side (etched or non-etched) directly against the skin.
For wounds or shingles outbreaks,
place a disc on the affected area over gauze or a layer of clothing and secure with adhesive tape. It can also be held in place by another layer of clothing.

Step 03
Hold the disc in place using on of the following adhesives:
-
Medical tape
-
Medical-grade toupee tape
-
Clear adhesive film
-
Tight clothing or a compression wrap (as a backup)
Once secured, there's nothing more to do! Just let the disc work quietly as you go about your day.

General Tips & Vortice Disc Usage

How Long Should You Use It?
-
New or recent pain: You may feel relief in a few moments to a few days
-
Ongoing or chronic pain: Keep using it 24 hours a day for at least one week. Be patient.
-
Wounds or shingles outbreak: Until wound is fully healed or subsided
-
There is no time limit: It is safe to wear 24 hours a day and long-term
-
The disc has no power source: It never needs to be charged

Application & Duration Summary
Always clean treatment area and apply discs as close to the skin as possible, using the right size for the area: larger discs for flat regions, smaller discs for joints and digits. Secure with wide hypoallergenic tape, polyurethane film, or stretch tape, depending on comfort and location.
The key is duration, discs should be worn continuously, often for weeks or months, to allow the body to fully heal, not just to mask pain.

Best Ways To Keep The Disc On:
Stretch Tape Hypafix® (or similar)
16mm: Secure with a strip of hypoallergenic tape.
Waterproof oval patches FixiC® Oval (or similar)
38 mm: Use an oval/round waterproof hypoallergenic adhesive patch.
72 mm: Use two oval patches. Overlap the patches so half adheres to skin on either side of the disc, securing the disc between them.

General Disc Use Summary
Vortice Discs can be applied with different tapes and dressings to match your needs. For larger discs, use wide hypoallergenic tape or a clear polyurethane film for a strong hold on flat areas like the back or abdomen.
For smaller discs on fingers and toes, stretch tape works best for wrapping securely around joints. Always clean the skin first with alcohol and a barrier wipe so the disc stays in place for several days, even through sleep and daily activity.

Try These Optional Techniques:
Stacking Discs Can Increase Their Effectiveness:
-
Use up to 3 evenly stacked discs at once on the same area
-
Flip each one so the spirals face opposite directions
-
The bottom disc should always have the counterclockwise side facing your skin
-
Use clear tape to hold the stack together

To Clean The Vortice Disc:
The Vortice Disc has no electric power source which means it can get wet and can be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm soapy water.
Do not use strong cleaners or scrub the surface, as this may damage or scratch the disc.

Vortice Disc™ Warnings:
The Vortice Disc itself has no contraindications and no adverse events have been reported or witnessed in a clinical environment. The adhesive covering may cause skin irritation for sensitive users. Do not apply over broken skin, active infection, or open wounds; instead, tape the disc over your dressing or a thin layer of clothing in between. Discontinue use if skin irritation develops; re-apply after the skin recovers or try a different medical grade adhesive tape or patch. Consult your clinician if pain worsens or fails to improve after a few davs.
Shoulder Placement
For shoulder pain or rotator cuff strain, place a 38mm disc directly over the most tender spot on the top of the shoulder. Secure the disc with tape or adhesive so it can stay on for several days. Pain may ease quickly, but continued use supports tissue healing.
Wearing the disc consistently for several weeks can help reduce inflammation and restore shoulder function.

Neck Placement
For tension, stiffness, or arthritis in the neck, place two discs just off the spine on either side at the base of the skull or lower down the neck. Clean and prepare the skin before securing with tape or clear film so the discs can stay in place for up to a week.
This placement helps relax tight muscles, reduce joint pain, and restore freer movement in the neck.

Upper Back Placement
For tension or pain around the upper back and shoulder blades, place a 72mm disc halfway between the spine and the edge of the shoulder blade. This flat area is ideal for application. Secure with wide tape or clear film so it stays in place.
This placement helps reduce muscle spasms, ease tightness, and bring relief to the upper back after long hours of sitting or repetitive strain.

Lower Back Placement
For low back pain or sacroiliac (SI) joint discomfort, place a disc over the most tender spot at the base of the spine, just off to the right or left side. Often two discs are used, one on each SI joint, to maximize relief. Secure with wide tape or clear film to keep them in place for several days.
This placement may ease stiffness, reduce deep joint pain, and support long-term recovery from chronic back issues or post-surgery discomfort.

Abdominal Placement
For abdominal discomfort, bloating, or pain after surgery, place two discs across the belly, one on each side. The abdomen’s flat surface makes application easy, and discs can be worn overnight for best results.
This placement may help ease tension, soften scar tissue, and reduce pain when used consistently. Secure with wide medical tape or a clear film dressing to keep the discs in place.

Knee Placement
For knee pain, place two discs: one just inside the kneecap and one just outside it. You’ll feel a small dip beside the tendon at the bottom of the kneecap, that’s the exact spot. Secure both discs with tape so they stay firmly in place.
This placement helps target the major ten of the knee and can bring noticeable relief within minutes. For additional ligament pain, a third disc may be placed directly over the sore area.

Hip Placement
For hip pain or mild inflammation, place a disc directly over the hip joint where the leg meets the pelvis. Use wide medical tape to hold it securely in place. Wearing the disc for long stretches, including overnight, brings the best results.
This placement helps calm irritation in the joint capsule and may reduce discomfort in the groin or outer hip area, especially for early arthritis or post-activity soreness.

Elbow Placement
For tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, or general joint pain, place a 38mm disc directly over the most tender spot. Secure with tape, or position the disc under an elbow brace for added stability. If pain is on the inside of the elbow, place the disc there instead.
This placement helps calm inflammation, reduce strain, and support easier movement in the elbow.

Ankle Placement
For ankle pain, sprains, or arthritis, place a disc directly over the sore area. A 38mm disc works best for general pain, while a 16mm disc can be used for sharp or pinpoint pain. Place it over the ligaments on the inside or outside of the ankle and secure with tape.
Consistent use may reduce swelling, calm joint irritation, and help you move more comfortably, sometimes providing noticeable relief right away.

Trigger Finger Placement
For trigger finger, place a 38mm disc over the base of the affected finger where the tendon is pinched. Secure with tape, and keep the disc in place for several days.
Many users notice the “catching” or locking improves within a week, though continued use is needed to calm swelling and prevent the pain from returning.

Wrist Placement
For wrist joint pain, place a 38mm disc across the sore spot on the wrist and secure with tape, adhesive, or wear it under a wrist splint. For sharp pain at the base of the thumb, use a 16mm disc placed directly on the joint where the thumb meets the wrist.
Consistent use may reduce arthritis pain and improve hand mobility, though it may take several weeks for lasting results.

Carpal Tunnel Placement
For wrist pain, tingling, or numbness from carpal tunnel, place a 38mm disc on the front of the wrist where the median nerve passes through. Tape it in place, and for extra support, a wrist splint can be worn over the disc. Relief may take several days of consistent use, but many people experience reduced finger numbness and improved comfort.
If symptoms persist, consult a healthcare provider for further options.

Plantar Fasciitis Placement
For heel and arch pain from plantar fasciitis, at night place or when not in motion, place a 38mm disc under the heel, directly where the soreness is felt. For use during the day while walking, if possible, use the 16mm disc taped to the same area or inside a heel cup so it stays secure while walking.
These placements helps calm irritation in the plantar fascia and ease nerve pressure. It works best alongside stretching or physical therapy, making daily activity more comfortable.

Face & Jaw Placement
For jaw pain from TMJ, place a disc over the sore spot just in front of the ear, where the jaw opens and closes. A 38mm disc works well, secured with tape.
This placement is especially effective when worn at night during sleep. It helps calm inflammation in the joint and may reduce jaw soreness, stiffness, and discomfort with chewing.

Big Toe Placement
For arthritis or stiffness in the big toe joint, place a 38mm disc over the joint and tape it securely. If the area is small, use a 16mm disc directly on the sore spot. It’s best applied at night when shoes and socks aren’t on, since pressure from footwear can cause irritation.
This placement helps reduce soreness, improve comfort, and ease the stiffness that makes walking painful.

Fingers & Toes Placement
For painful or swollen finger or toe joints, use a 16mm disc placed directly on the joint. Secure with tape on the top, bottom, or side, whichever is most comfortable.
For severe arthritis, place two discs (one on each side of the joint) and wrap with stretch tape to hold them in place. With regular use, this placement can help reduce swelling, ease stiffness, and support better mobility over time.

Animal Placement
For animals, position the disc directly over the injured or painful area. On dogs and cats, wraps, slings, or soft collars keep it secure without causing irritation. For horses, use slinkys with sewn-in pockets or vet wraps to hold the disc in place on legs or large muscle groups.
Proper placement allows continuous contact, supporting faster healing while letting the animal move comfortably.

This is a small change to the surface geometry, not a new or different product. The core Vortice Disc technology stays the same. Only the visible pattern on the disc has been updated. The updated pattern reflects ongoing research and Dr. Flick's clinical experience, while keeping the same underiying technology.
